Real Madrid's Everest

Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid is enjoying a weekend off which will do the players a world of good before they face three hectic weeks, in which Real Madrid will be playing for an improved position in the league, and also the chance of coming first in their Champions League group.
Ancelotti's personal Everest starts on Saturday at 1600 hours against Berndt Schuster's Málaga. 'Los Blancos' will be once again playing in front of their home crowd, following the poor game against Levante.
After that match comes the first big week of the season. On Wednesday 23rd, Real will host Juventus, and three days after that is the visit to Barcelona.
Success in the Champions League group stage is well on track following the wins over Galatasaray and Copenhagen, and so the four-point cushion will allow Madrid to approach the Juventus game more calmly, though it has to be borne in mind that a win would bring a double benefit. On the one hand it would mean first place in the group, and on the other, it would be a terrific morale-booster with which to travel to Barcelona.
The week after that brings another double helping of matches - this time just league games. On the 30th, Sevilla will come to the Santiago Bernabéu, and then on Saturday 2nd November Real Madrid will go to Vallecas to play Rayo.
And to finish with, there is the return trip to Juventus on 5th November and then the visit of Real Sociedad to the Bernabéu the following weekend.
