Morata or Benzema? Carlos 'Santillana' gave MARCA.com his view on the Real Madrid attack. "Morata is very good, but in Spain we are very quick to cause a ruckus. We're ready to ditch Benzema, when he is a great striker. We need to be patient with both of them," he said.
According to the former striker, the youngster is a totally valid option. "Morata is looking very good. He is a striker who has proven that he has a great ability to score goals. But in addition to scoring goals, he makes great diagonal runs, he moves well up the flanks, finds space… He already proved his ability with Castilla - now he has to prove it with the first team. It's not the same. He needs time to find his feet, but if he has the confidence, I'm sure he will respond well," he assured.
Santillana is delighted with Morata's performance, but warns that it is not the same playing the last few minutes as starting from the off. "Morata has enthusiasm, quality, character and lots of other great assets, but we have to bear in mind that there was not much at stake in the games when he has come on. We need to see how he does as a starter one day. And another thing too – there is a lot of weight on a Real Madrid striker's shoulders. We can't put him under too much pressure; he is still very young."
He thinks that Benzema is looking languid. "Benzema's head is not really in the game. Maybe he's not what Real Madrid needs right now, but we need to get his confidence back. He does not have a fighter's personality, but even if he does look a little tepid, I'm sure we'll see the best side of him again."
