Sami Khedira admits that Real Madrid has been having a tough time early on this season: "We aren't playing well. We can play well in phases, but the majority of the time we're complicating things for ourselves too much, playing as individuals too much."
"I don't know if it's a matter of time or something else, but we still haven't found ourselves as a team", says the German international, who thinks that some of the side's difficulties may be down to the departure of Mesut Özil: "Losing a player of his ability would weaken any side".
"I'm not a Spanish player, I didn't cost a whole load of money and I'm one of Mourinho's disciples. I'm never going to be loved by the press"
"We need to improve, and fast", the Real Madrid player said in an interview with 'Kicker'. "Barça is playing very consistently and Atlético has also won all eight games so far", he explains.
On a personal level, the player was very critical of the treatment that, in his judgement, the Spanish press reserves for him: "I'm never going to be a favourite of the Spanish press. I started the season on the bench or even in the stands and now I'm being used as a scapegoat once again. Even when I play well it isn't valued".
"I'm not a Spanish player, I didn't cost a whole load of money and I'm one of Mourinho's disciples. I feel that I have not been treated correctly, but I don't let it affect me. I'm never going to be loved by the press -all I'm asking for is some respect", concluded Khedira.
