The Bernabéu curse

Málaga is aware that these games attract interest on an international scale, for which the pre-match anticipation is the most intense. The week seems eternal and the players cannot wait for the clash to get underway. The Bernabéu challenge is on everyone's mind. A fortress that remains as yet unbreached.
Weligton said this week, "It's about time we won at the Bernabéu." Just as past generations of Málaga line-ups have planned to do ever since the club was promoted to the top league competition for the first time in 1999. Alas, Málaga has never won on 'Los Blancos' home turf.
It currently stands as one of the few stadiums to have held out. Looking down the list of 20 clubs playing in La Liga this campaign, Málaga has already tasted victory at 15 of those stadiums, with just the Bernabéu, Mestalla, and those of Granada, Almería and Elche yet to fall.
"We can beat anyone", is the mantra being bandied around the 'Blanquiazul' dressing room this week. "We're going there with the objective of playing the perfect game and winning", team captain, Duda, stressed just a few hours ago. There is a general feeling of being able to cash in on Real's period of irregular performances to triumph at the Bernabéu.
Schuster is thinking along the same lines. He is seriously considering putting two strikers up front against Ancelotti's outfit. The German is bent on breaking the 'Los Blancos' curse.
Real cannot afford to lose two home games in a row, however, after being beaten by Atlético, and will not make things easy for the Andalusian set-up.
