Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that the Spanish outfit paid €91 million for Gareth Bale, reports Goal.com.
It had previously been reported that the Bernabeu outfit had paid Tottenham €100m for the Welsh wizard, which would have made him the most expensive player in the world, however Perez has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo remains the world's most expensive star.
Real paid Manchester United €94m for Ronaldo in 2009 which means the transfer of Bale cost €3m less.
Speaking to Intereconomia, the Real president said: "Bale is insured for €91m, which is the amount he cost."
Bale has had a tricky start to his Real Madrid career after picking up minor injuries, however Perez had earlier indicated that the superstar was ready to return to first-team action against Malaga this weekend.
Real will be hoping that the two most expensive players in world football can link up on a consistent basis in La Liga to reclaim the title back off rivals Barcelona.
