On the day he established himself as a member of the starting eleven
at the Bernabéu, Álvaro Morata paid tribute to his coaches last season
with Castilla and Real Madrid. The youngster played a prominent part in
the game against Málaga and earned the recognition of the Santiago
Bernabéu fans, who gave him a rousing ovation when he came off.
"I didn't play like I do now when I was in the Under 18s or the third team. I want to thank Alberto Toril and José Mourinho, who drilled it into my head that if you don't work and toil, you're less likely to play," he said in the mixed zone.
Morata also thanked the fans for their support. "The appreciation I get from the people at the club and the fans is incredible. I am truly grateful. I am trying to pay them back with hard work and goals. The work is done and goals will come."
