Real Madrid are struggling to recover from the summer departure of Jose Mourinho to Chelsea, at least that is the opinion of former Los Blancos centre-back Fabio Cannavaro.
Madrid find themselves three points behind leaders Barcelona in La Liga and, although they have won both of their Champions League outings, have struggled for fluency so far this term.
Mourinho left the Santiago Bernabeu my mutual consent in the summer, and returned to Chelsea to succeed Rafael Benitez at Stamford Bridge, and Cannavaro believes the exit of the Portuguese is still being keenly felt in Madrid.
Their form of late has not been helped by the sale of playmaker Mesut Özil not the final day of the summer transfer window, and Cannavaro believes it will be a while yet before Carlo Ancelotti will be able to stamp his mark on his Real Madrid squad.
"Madrid have had a bad start, but there's still a long way to go," Cannavaro was quoted as saying by Marca.
"They are finding it hard to move on after Mourinho's departure. He's a coach who makes a big impact.
"The same has happened at all the teams that he's coached."
Real Madrid, meanwhile, host Juventus on Wednesday night knowing that thee points will go someway to securing their path out of the group phase of this season's Champions League.
