Ancelotti zidan

Carlo Ancelotti was content on leaving the Santiago Bernabéu: "It was a good game. I liked the
team's attitude. We defended well – more aggressively and more compactly. We created lots of goalscoring chances. I hope we show the same intensity in the upcoming games."
The Real Madrid coach picked out the improvements: "Basically, we worked harder in defence; everyone was focused on defending better. We tried to recover the ball quickly, we pressed well and the team kept its composure. We didn't give away chances."
Bale came on as a substitute and started out playing on the left flank, pushing Cristiano further forward. Ancelotti explained it as follows: "It was only for this game. Cristiano has put in a lot of work and is not going to change positions. Bale can play on the left, but he moved over to the right when Jesé came on."
He also had some positive words for Illarramendi: "He has improved. He played a good defensive game. He has to improve his through balls, but he has been working hard over the past two weeks and improved his fitness a lot."
As for the two youngsters who he started in today's match, Morata and Carvajal, Ancelotti remarked: "They had a good game. Morata looked dangerous and did a lot of defensive work, which is what I asked of the players."
Regarding Benzema, he said: "He has a knock to his calf and wasn't fit. I hope to get him back for Wednesday."
